Vintage Union Oil Advertising Optical Illusion Flip Book – Union 76 Minute Men Flipit - image 1 of 5

This is an old flip book advertising the Union Oil Company. On the cover it reads; “High Speed” A One-Second, One Reel Epic Drama of Life in a Service Station. The flip book creates a "moving picture" and was a popular novelty as early as the early 1900's. When the pages are quickly flipped the images look as if the scene is moving. The small bound book has pages of individual photos of the Minute Men working their magic on a battered car and then sending it off with a salute. It is made of a heavy paper stapled at the left side and the little tab on the right reads; Right Thumb. The bottom edge of the last page reads; Flipit Registered U.S.Pat. Off. Holdeman Animated Pictures. It believe it is probably from the late 1940's.

It measures about 2 1/8” by 4” wide by almost ¼” thick. It is complete and in generally good condition with minimal edge wear. The place for your right thumb has two small tears.

The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
