This unusual matched pair of heavy ornate sterling silver bon bon/raisin dishes were made by the Stieff Company of Baltimore, Maryland, founded in 1892. Stieff's elaborate hand chased and repoussé work is highly sought after and these dishes are a terrific example of the company's outstanding workmanship. The dishes have been finished in the perennially popular Stieff Rose pattern and feature ornate repousse floral decoration. The pieces have an oval shape with a scalloped edge and are listed on page 57 of the company's 1910 catalog titled "Stieff Handwrought Repousse Sterling Silver".

The dishes are in excellent condition and have not been monogrammed. They measure 7.75” by 6.75" at the widest points of the rims and stand 2" tall. The undersides measure 2.5" by 2" and bear the company name "STIEFF STERLING" along with item number "60" and a date mark for 1925. The pieces weigh in at a combined 538 grams.

These lovely Stieff Rose sterling silver bon bon/raisin dishes display beautifully and are a perfect choice for serving nuts, candy - or raisins! They also work well a decorative accents on a table or shelf. An elegant and useful antique find!
