A Berndorf of Austria bronze small dish or vide poche dating to the turn of the century c1890-1900. It features a classical style image of a moose or elk battling a wolf, with the moose seemingly in control with the wolf pinned on it's back. The work is perhaps inspired by Thomas Landseer's 'Stag at Bay' 1865. The dish is patinated in a rich brown tone, a little redder than it has come out under the studio lighting in the images, and the Berndorf mark is cast into the reverse. A stylish piece of classical Austrian bronze.
Condition
As seen it has some wear to the patination around the rim and at the high points through normal use as a vide poche.
