This tiny Victorian era coin purse was skillfully knitted in this amphora jug shape to hold one's coins. The shape is absolutely amazing being knitted in two shades of moss green wool with alternating rows of gold file. Our favorite area are the two ring handles knitted or crocheted in gold file!!

This little 1880's period purse would have been made following the pattern produced in one of the Victorian ladies magazines such as 'The Young Ladies Guide To The Worktable’

Because of the circular knitted base and sheer amount of gold file thread knitted in to the design, this little purse stand perfectly well by itself. Please see pence jug purse examples held by The Smithsonian, The National Trust Collections, The Cooper Hewitt and The Met Museum.

Measuring: Height 2 3/4 inch by width 2 1/2 inch at its widest (7 cm by 6.5 cm).

Condition is very good but not quite perfect. Just one tiny moth hole to the wool under one handle.

This will make a stunning addition to your antique purse collection.

Remember Free air shipping is included in our price.
